Universities are essential for building a sustainable society. Here at the University of Brighton, we take our role seriously and have defined sustainability as one of the university's core values.

Our aim is to embed it into all the work that we do. This can only be done by a large number of dedicated staff and students across the university.

In 2015, we were a finalist in the Green Gown Awards in the Instuitional Change category. Watch the video below to find out what we've been doing to embed sustainability in all that we do.

Rail fare discounts extended

A Students’ Union led campaign has led to reduced price train travel between Brighton and Eastbourne for students.

In May 2014 the boundaries for Southern Railway’s Unizone season ticket,
were extended to offer unlimited train travel across the university’s
campuses at Brighton and Eastbourne.

Paul Cooke, Vice President Campus and Communications said:

“I am delighted that we have achieved this success for so many of our

Studying at a university spread across so many sites and three

different towns/cities
means that our students often have to travel.

is expensive for everyone but
as their income is so limited,  it really hits

our students hard in the pocket.”

How to apply for a Unizone season ticket

Students can apply for Unizone tickets. Details of how to apply
for a Unizone season ticket are available on the Southern Railway

You will need to have a valid NUS Extra card to apply. Details on how
